Why I don't do requests and why I do commissions

This is really bugging me that people don't seem to read my front page in that I don't do requests and they don't seem to take "no" for an answer.

I don't take requests because I don't like doing things for strangers for free when it doesn't benefit me in the end at all. I used to do this when I first joined dA and I did requests for people who in the end, don't even care to get to know me. They only see me as just a drawing machine and nothing else. They do this to other people too and it just made me feel bad.

I once did requests for this one guy who turned out to be a jerk and was really ugly to me when I draw him stuff and I couldn't even get them right, mostly they were of shows and movies I'm not familiar with. Even when he does remember to show me references. Even when I got them right, he unwatched me and blocked me because he was done with me. Again, he did this to other people. For that, I deleted his stupid requests in retaliation. And since then, I stopped doing requests for anyone that I don't trust ever again.

This is why if you're not a close friend and never bothered to talk to me much and just viewed me as your personal art machine: you won't get anything from me. I may be good, but I am no artist. I'm just someone that loves to draw. I mostly draw for people I trust. I don't like be used at all and I can say the same for other artists. We're people too you know.

And if you tell me "but I can't draw good/at all" I'm not gonna feel bad for you at all. If you mooch on artists for free shit like CrimsonColt7 does without returning anything to them at all, (e.i money, gifts, etc.) then you're a pathetic piece of shit. :|

And lastly, if you're a minor and you're requesting me hentai, even if commissioning me: that's illegal

Another reason why artists who do commissions, they do it for money because this is a practice they feel they're best at and being paid for it helps motivates them and probably helps them with any financial troubles. Nothing is free, people. If you help pay an artists for commissions, you're helping them pay their bills, etc. This is why IU sorta respect those who have the pictures they commissioned in their gallery, least those that credit the artist who gave them.

Plus the economy sucks ass, so give them a break if this is what they do for a living.

I have a small part-time job but it sucks ass. Doing commissions really helps motivate me and helps me out in the long run.

TL;DR - Don't treat artists like slaves. We don't like to do things for free unless it's with people we trust. Art is like sex: we love it, it turns us on, but we wanna share it with people we can trust. Even if it means paying for it. XDDDDD
